What To Do With Your Kids During Christmas Break?

Christmas, Moms, Scrapbooking 2 Comments

I know most of you integrate school with real life, but what do you do when everyone you take a break from your normal routine every once in awhile.  Even though I like to “always” be educating, I am reminded that God rested on the seventh day.  This is a time to rest from our normal labor.

If you are like me, you don’t want your children sitting in front of the one-eyed monster (your TV) during your school breaks.  I hope some of these ideas will help you.

Make Gingerbread (uh, graham cracker) Houses
Use empty milk cartons (half/half size) as the house base.  Frost the sides of the house and lay graham crackers on top.  There will still be a space on the edge where you can fill in candy.  Be sure to put a roof on top.

Cut a piece of cardboard (or use a large cookie sheet).  Cover with foil and spread icing over the foil.  Place your houses on the icing.  We added blue icing for a river.

Buy a ton of candy/decorations and put in separate bowls.  Use icing to attach.  Have a blast and take lots of pictures for grandma!

Play Board Games
I always intend to play games during school time, but don’t play as much as I would like.  Use this time to play fun &/or educational games.

Scrapbook
OK, I love scrapbooking, but NEVER have time to do it.  Last week we made my Mom’s annual scrapbook calendar.  Every month has a different layout with pictures of my children.  When the year is over, we cut off the layouts and insert them in her 12×12 album.  I had so much FUN making the pages and helping the kids with their pages.  Plus, I made a duplicate pages for my calendar.  When I finish in the next few days, I’ll have 12 layouts for my album and a calendar for 2007.

Do you love to scrapbook, but need FRESH ideas?  I can relate!!!
Here’s a site where you get membership for you and your children for an entire year.

They even have one of my books on this site:  101 Scrapbooking Tips

Make a Home Video

Last month we made our first video and posted it on youtube.com.  We had a great time, making it and laughing our way through.  Many digital cameras can take videos or you may have your own digital camcorder to record your movie.

Once your children make their video, post it to youtube.com.  Send the link to all your friends and family to enjoy.

Here’s our first home video on youtube.
Hunter’s Mighty Marshmallow Gun
Hunter would love for you to rate this video.  All you have to do is get a free youtube account.  Then click on the star rating you want to give the video.

Cook & Bake
What would Christmas be, if you didn’t spend some time in the kitchen?  If you are cooking or baking, call one of your children to help you!  Sounds so easy, but we often forget!

It’s Not Too Late!

Christmas No Comments

This morning we started our Star of Bethlehem Family Study.  It’s been a few years since my kids did this study, so I thought it was time to look at those verses again.  I am so excited to do this now.  We probably won’t finish until after Christmas…which is the perfect time to read the story of The Three Wise Men.  I plan to make the Twelve Days of Christmas more special this year…and this will be the perfect study to tie together Christmas and Epiphany.

It’s not too late to start your own Star of Bethlehem Bible Study with your family.  Get your own copy here:

A Weekend That Changed Our Lives…Only 7 More Hours

Entrepreneurs, Raising Leaders No Comments

Many of you know that my husband, Stepehn, was a building contractor for 20 years before he decided to attend seminary to become a pastor. He has a year and a half left of seminary and then…only God knows where He will send us!

What many of you may not know is how starting a family business on the internet fit in with all of these plans. You see, we had
many of the same questions you have now:

- Where do westart?

- How do we come up with a product or idea?

- How do we get this business going FAST!

- How much time will we have to invest in this business?

- How do we do this when we don’t even know how to make a web page?

Here Stephen was leaving a six-figure income in construction to attend seminary with two college-aged daughters. a teenage son and no
job prospects to speak of.

** How in the world was he going to make ends meet?

** What was heI going to do about those college tuitions right around the corner?

** How could he afford the time when he would be studying his brains out in seminary?

Cindy Rushton Gives Away More Help

Homeschooling, Leaving a Legacy, Moms, Raising Leaders No Comments

We had a great call yesterday.  If you missed it, we should have it online shortly.

While we were on the call, Cindy told me her new Mommy Pocket Pal includes a lot more FREE information than meets the eye.  Let me tell you about it.

1.  When you buy a Mommy Pocket Pal, you receive access to the member pages.  That means you have access to the ebooks they discuss in that membership site.  If your Mommy Pocket Pal has access to Homeschooling the Easy Way, not only do you get Cindy’s workshop on Homeschooling the Easy Way, you also get her ebook…Homeschooling the Easy Way.  I was shocked that she was giving away all her ebooks that are available to the members.  This is worth the price of the Mommy Pocket Pal alone.

2. When you secure your Mommy Pocket Pal before Friday, December 15th, you get free enrollment in the next Talk-A-Latte series.  PLUS, you get all the extras with for Talk-A-Latte members, ebooks, audios, Mommy Homework.  Cindy told us the new series will be longer, 15 weeks.  She will start with Organization 911 in January.

3.  Your new Mommy Pocket Pal entitles you to unadvertised bonuses as well.  Cindy told me she has some extras bonuses that she sends you once you buy your Mommy Pocket Pal.  The list goes on & on.

Cindy is truly the Christmas elf these days and she wants to bless you during this Christmas season.  Her comments yesterday really encouraged me to let go of trying to be Super-Mom and remembering it is okay to say “no”.  Moms do need to take care of themselves so they can do the best job of taking care of their husband and children.

Mommy Pocket Pal make a terrific Christmas gift.  Buy some for your friends and family.  OR…ask your husband to buy one for you.  It will really encourage you to be the BEST Mom ever.

If you missed Cindy’s encouraging phone call and you are not sure what  the Mommy Pocket Pal are, surf over to the web page she made  just for my  subscribers.  You can read about the $165 in free gifts and  all the different types of  Mommy Pocket Pals.

***When you reserve your Mommy Pocket Pal using the link below, I will give you one of my ebooks.  I am compiling a list right now and will post it here on the blog.  Just email me a copy of your receipt and you will receive a free ebook from me.  What a deal!

Blessings,
Kerry

Christmas Copywork Given to Advent & Christmas Owners

Christmas, Leaving a Legacy No Comments

This weekend I completed a Christmas Copywork e-book…just for my Christmas & Advent Package Owners.  I’ll be sending the owners a private email telling them where they can get a cop of the new e-book.

If you haven’t gotten your Christmas & Advent Package, it’s not too late.  In fact, this is a terrific week to secure your copy because you can use so many of the ideas to remind your children why you have specific Christmas traditions - the lights, stockings, evergreen tree and so on.  Most of our Christmas traditions have a Christian origin or Christian symbolism.  What a great picture to teach our children the real meaning of Christmas is Christ coming to die for mankind’s sins.

Better go send that email to my Owners.  If you aren’t an Owner yet, go here and get your copy:

Christmas & Advent Activity Ideas

Blessings,

Kerry
